AWS Equivalent

Origins and History

The Microsoft Bot Framework was first announced at the Build 2016 conference in March 2016, with the Azure Bot Service reaching general availability in December 2017. The Bot Framework v4 SDK, a major rewrite emphasizing modularity and middleware patterns, was released in September 2018. Bot Framework Composer, the visual authoring tool, reached GA in March 2021. In 2023, Microsoft consolidated Power Virtual Agents into Microsoft Copilot Studio, which builds on the Bot Framework infrastructure with a no-code experience focused on enterprise copilot scenarios.
