Apache Superset was created by Maxime Beauchemin at Airbnb in 2015 (originally named Panoramix, then Caravel). Beauchemin co-founded Preset in 2018 to offer a managed Superset service. The project has over 60,000 GitHub stars and a contributor community spanning hundreds of organizations.
